"The employment market in 2009 is kindly described as 'difficult'.  I worked with Bob Netherton to find a position in California in the middle of a distressed market.  My skills are specialized and finding the right position for salary, location and a 'fit' with the organization had been challenging.  Bob found me both contract and permanent positions, talked through the pros and cons of each choice, and was a terrific sounding board for my concerns about each one.  He encouraged me when the going was hard. Aside from taking care of his candidate, he advocated for the prospective employers, pointing out their needs and concerns to me.  He checked my references and otherwise acting as a one man HR department.  When an offer I liked was made, a couple of snags arose.  I am particularly impressed because Bob managed to create the win-win without alienating either the candidate or the employer.  I can speak from experience that his was no small feat!  No candidate wants to walk into a new job where the recruiter has annoyed the new boss and no employer wants to fend off a 'pushy' recruiter - Bob avoided both of these traps.  I think the secret of his success is that he cares about successful placements-he cares about his candidates and he cares about meeting his clients' needs.  I simply can't remember working with a more personable - and effective! - recruiter from either side of the desk.

"Having found myself out of work after eighteen years in my field I was scared to death. I found myself scrambling through all the websites and dealing with the large recruiting firms and found out what only being a number really feels like. They would call with opportunities they felt were a fit and I would hang up thinking they didn't even read my resume. I started wondering if I wasn't clear enough and should I pay the huge fee to have a professional write a resume for me.
